Cocktail Recipes featuring our Bitters

We like to imbibe now and again and what better than with a happy hour at home.  We spent a couple of years developing four different bitters and we believe have elevated some of the classic cocktails with them. Cheers!

The Old Fashioned

3 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce simple syrup
5 dashes BST bitters
garnish with orange peel (lemon OK) and cherry

Place ingredients in cocktail glass and stir to the count of 30 with plenty of ice. Strain into your old fashioned glass. Garnish with orange and cherry.

The Manhattan

4 oz bourbon/rye
2 oz sweet vermouth
2 dashes BST bitters
2-4 drops maraschino liqueur
1 frozen cherry

Pour all ingredients into shaker/stirring pitcher and stir 15-30 times (with ice). Strain into your favorite martini or coupe-style glass.

Garnish with frozen cherry.

Bourbon Sour

3/4 oz egg white
2 oz bourbon
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/4 oz simple syrup
1 dash BST bitters

Dry shake all of the ingredients together (count to 13), then add ice, and do it again. Serve in a chilled martini or coupe glass (preferred because it looks awesome but an old fashioned glass would work too).

You could add a cherry and slice of lemon for garnish too.

The egg white gives it a lovely cloud-like top.

The Jersey Cocktail

1 ounce Laird's Applejack Whiskey (good bourbon in a pinch)
1/4 ounce simple syrup
2 dashes bitters (BST Apple Jack is best - Citrus also good)
Hard Cider
Lemon twist

Add all ingredients to cocktail shaker and stir until ice cold. Pour into an old fashioned glass with cracked ice (bash up some of your cubes). Fill with hard cider and then garnish with lemon twist.

The Negroni

1 part Gin
1 part Sweet Vermouth
1 part Campari
2 dashes citrus bitters
Twist of orange

Personally, I chill a martini or coupe-style glass with lots of ice while preparing the rest.  Add a small handful of ice to your shaker/stirring pitcher and gin, vermouth, Campari and your two dashes of bitters. Stir vigorously to get well incorporated and chilled. our into martini glass and garnish with orange peel. Enjoy!

The Metropolitan

2 oz Brandy
3 dashes citrus bitters
1 oz sweet vermouth
1/2 oz simple syrup
cherry for garnish

Place all ingredients in cocktail shaker or glass, fill with ice, and stir about 15 times. Strain into chilled martini glass.

The Martinez

2 ounces Gin
.25 oz maraschino liqueur
.75 oz Italian sweet Vermouth
1 dash bitters
twist of orange

Add a small handful of ice to a pint glass.

Add ingredients, minus orange, to the pint glass and stir vigorously for about 90 seconds.

Strain into chilled coupe style cocktail glass.

Garnish with a twist of orange.
