Blacksmith Trading Company began in 2015 as an extension of Firebird Foods, a coffee and chocolate company in the great state of Washington.

Small but determined, we expanded into tea and high-end men's grooming products, all handmade in small batches ensuring quality and encompassing something of a bygone era in our presentation and commitment to excellence.

While our products are not categorized as all-natural, we aim to make them last by utilizing safe and natural ingredients, while our scents are made up of a complex blend of essential oils.

We intend to grow slowly with expansion into pantry and home goods and with same fierce commitment to creating wares with purpose.

Based in Issaquah, Washington, our family includes a husband, wife 6 kids and a black lab.

Matcha - A brief History and Recipe for the Perfect Latte
Matcha - A brief History and Recipe for the Perfect Latte

Matcha is essentially a powdered green tea. It originated in China and spread via buddhist monks to Japan where it gained popularity. In China, this powdered form of tea fell out of popularity, but had continued to be produced on a small scale. Deveining the leaves is an important step in quality matcha.
Chemex
Chemex

Personally, I think a pour-over method is the best way to drink coffee on the weekends. A little more care, a little slower pace, and a whole lot more flavor than the commuter cup of coffee we have become accustomed to.  The Chemex is one of my absolute favorites and frankly, is a manly way to drink coffee.
V60 Pour Over
V60 Pour Over

The V60 Pour Over is one of our personal favorites. Serves 1-2 balanced cups of coffee and since it takes a little more time, give you that zen coffee-brewing experience along the way. Like the Chemex, the V60 shows up the complexities and nuance of the bean nicely.
